The engine, chassis, and cab structure of a dump truck are similar to those of a typical truck.

High-pressure oil flows through a distribution valve and oil pipes into the lift cylinder. A cab safety guard is located at the front of the vehicle body.

The engine drives the hydraulic pump through the transmission and power take-off. The hydraulic tilting mechanism of the vehicle body consists of a fuel tank, hydraulic pump, distribution valve, lift cylinder, control valve, and oil pipes.

The engine drives the hydraulic pump through the transmission and power take-off. High-pressure oil flows through the distribution valve and oil pipes into the lift cylinder, pushing the piston rod to tilt the vehicle body. Rearward tilting is more common. The control system controls the movement of the piston rod to stop the vehicle body at any desired tilting position. The vehicle body resets using its own weight and hydraulic control.
