A dump truck is a vehicle that unloads its cargo using hydraulic or mechanical lifting. It's also called a tipper truck. It consists of a chassis, hydraulic lifting mechanism, cargo compartment, and power take-off.
Dump truck compartments can be rear- or side-tipping. The piston rod is controlled by a control system. Rear-tipping is the most common method, with the piston rod pushing to tilt the compartment. A few also have bidirectional tipping.
Introduction
In civil engineering, dump trucks often operate in conjunction with excavators, loaders, belt conveyors, and other construction machinery, forming a loading, transporting, and unloading production line for the transportation of earth, sand, gravel, and bulk materials.
